“With a prayer on your lips, and your hand on your gun…”

The Savage West began with The Good, The Bad, and The Savage, Marshal Games’ first release back in July of 2025. That was followed closely by The Road to Redemption, a fully fleshed out campaign setting in the town of Redemption in Custer County, Dakota Territory of 1885. The infamous Sinners Thirst Saloon, colorful characters like ‘Silk’ Mercer, Deputy David Hill, Doc Mercy, and Miriam Sackett join with more than a dozen more to create a living and vibrant town. The famous ‘1880 Town’ in South Dakota generously agreed to let us use their town as the images of Redemption, so we say that “1880 Town is the Official Town of Redemption.

The thrilling and moving adventure, The Preacher and the Devil rounded out the setting, featuring a vendetta from an outlaw that claims to be ‘Old Scratch’ – a nickname for the Devil himself – and a Preacher whose past has finally caught up with him. The final adventure written for Redemption is The Last Ride of Scorpion Jack, which is a classic posse adventure chasing down a desperado and his gang in the badlands near Redemption.

From there, the focus shifted to the American Southwest in 1875 with Savage Southwest. The famous Colt Peacemaker and Winchester 74 – the rifle that won the west – were produced the year before, and places like Iron Spur, Texas; Sable Crossing, Arizona Territory; and Descanso, New Mexico Territory were very much in flux and dealing with everything from cattle rustlers, and storms, to Anglo-Hispanic rivalries and Apache raids.

From this conflicted environment rose three adventures, each set in one of the towns in the Savage Southwest. The Price of Justice is centered in Iron Spur, and details the conflicts with cattle barons and local lawmen when rustlers take up residence outside of town under the leadership of the outlaw known as “Two Guns”. Blood on the Acequia, set in Descanso, New Mexico Territory has Anglo and Mexicano alike uniting against a powerful man attempting to take control of the town’s precious water supply. Then we moved to Sable Crossing, Arizona, near the beautiful Dragoon Mountains, where the Army and an upstart Apache warrior try to upset a tenuous peace between the town and the Apache in the adventure, Thunder and Lies.
